Proactive lubricant
analysis is an effective and valuable front-line defense against unplanned
failures, and is one of the most important
contributions you can make towards improved machinery reliability. Lubricant
monitoring provides an economic approach to the early identification of
internal component wear, fault progression, and lubricant degradation.
It promotes proactive maintenance, and
should be an integral part of any quality condition monitoring
program, ideally performed in concert with other proactive technologies such as
vibration monitoring, thermographic and ultrasonic analysis.
M&B provides a
full range of engineering services to support your lubricant monitoring and
analysis needs. From individual sample analysis to site assessments, program development and implementation,
and program management and administration, M&B can help you meet your
reliability goals.
Various programs can be
developed to meet your lubrication analysis needs, including:
Site
Assessments
Site assessments help
baseline your current program and identify improvement strategies. Whether
you have no existing program or a well-established one in need of
fine-tuning, M&B can help move your forward. Beginning with a general
facility survey, lubricants and sampling methods / intervals are identified
and evaluated against machinery parameters, operating environment and
service duty. Storage, handling, and contamination control practices are
also evaluated. Upon completion, assessments will identify specific areas
for improvement targeting storage & handling, lubricant consolidation,
sampling methods and contamination control.
Lubrication
Programs
M&B supports and
develops
customized programs that
focus on results-based, proactive machinery management for your facility. We
can formulate new programs from the ground up, and can review existing
programs for improvement. Some specific areas of focus include:
-
Optimized lubricant selection and
consolidation
-
Lubricant sampling locations, techniques, and
frequencies
-
Improving contamination control methods
-
Benchmarking against lubrication
“best practices”
-
Management of lubrication databases
Integrated Diagnostic
Services
Our philosophy at
M&B is that no single
condition monitoring technology will predict all failure modes. We recommend
and practice using multiple methodologies to ensure we have the broadest
interpretation of machine condition available within reason. One key example
is the integration of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) vibration monitoring
data. Utilizing various software packages, M&B can provide excellent
correlation of vibration, lubrication and other data types to maximize asset
reliability.
Individual / Diagnostic Samples
While the trending
derived from on-going programs is one of the main benefits from an on-going
program, M&B's field experience has shown that single diagnostic samples
often provide significant insight into machinery behavior, and can be a key
element is root cause diagnostics. We routinely acquire single-samples
during our field to complement vibration and other condition monitoring
data, and can help you gather and analyze one-time samples as well.
Technical Training
We also offer an
excellent 1-day
Practical Oil Analysis seminar,
with hotels seminars conducted periodically throughout the country. We can
also perform a custom, on-site course at your facility.
